Meet the Facilitator

Gwen Hyman is the founder of Workshop. Her mission: to help people, agencies and brands generate fresh ideas and tell great stories.

Gwen has led communications workshops for all kinds of professional teams, from fintech companies to food-business startups. She’s taught storytelling techniques to marketing pros, UNIX designers, and non-profit founders. She’s ghostwritten New York Times editorials, and she’s coached thought leaders through speeches, articles, and book projects. Her clients have included Nike Communications, Hunt & Gather, Hawkins International PR, UpWorthy, New_Public, The Economic Security Project, NYU Tandon School of Engineering, PayPal, SoundCloud, Nickelodeon, and many others.

Gwen honed her skills as a writing teacher and mentor when she served as Director of the Center for Writing and a professor of English literature at The Cooper Union in New York City. She got her professional start at Columbia University, where she first trained college writing teachers while she earned a Ph.D. in English.

She’s written four books: Thinking on the Page, Urban Italian, American Flavor, and Making a Man.
