Channing Johnson
Chairman
Channing D. Johnson, Burrell Communications Group chairman, is a Partner at Loeb & Loeb LLP, where he has been since 2009 specializing in mergers and acquisitions as well as corporate finance related to entertainment, media, sports and retail products.
Channing graduated from Stanford University and Harvard Law, and has been a Partner at multiple law firms for the past 37 years including Kaye Scholer LLP, and Akin Gump Strauss Haure & Feld. Channing represents public and private companies in a variety of industries, including music, film and television production and distribution, animation, manufacturing, retail (clothing, food and beverage), internet commerce, software and investment banking.
He has extensive experience advising entertainment and media clients. His entertainment and media clients are involved with all modes of distribution (broadcast, cable, broadband, theatrical and internet), and seek legal advice in connection with the issuance of securities, mergers and acquisitions, joint venture and financing agreements, production agreements, distribution agreements, affiliate carriage agreements, publishing and co-publishing agreements, production deals, endorsements, co-branding and sponsorship deals, and talent contracts.
Channing additionally has significant experience representing superstar recording artists in worldwide touring agreements, including handling all legal matters relating to one of the largest international tours ever produced. He also regularly represents successful independent film and television production companies, music publishers, and record companies with respect to their day-to-day legal needs, financings and strategic acquisitions.
Tara DeVeaux
CEO
Tara DeVeaux is Chief Executive Officer of Burrell Communications Group, and an award-winning brand and entertainment marketer.
Tara joined Burrell from Wild Card Entertainment Group where she was CMO and Managing Director of 3AM, the agency’s content innovation studio. Tara joined Wild Card/3AM in 2018 to evolve the entertainment marketing agency’s strategic and
creative process and help grow the business beyond traditional studios. She set about integrating brand marketing principles into the entertainment marketing process and built the data-focused strategy and social content teams from scratch.
At Wild Card, Tara steered teams through the launch of integrated and social campaigns in entertainment (including Universal’s Super Mario Bros movie, UA’s The House of Gucci, The Handmaid’s Tale and Kardashians for Hulu, HBO’s Insecure and Rap Sh*t and, Swarm on Amazon), in gaming (for Marvel’s Avengers and The SIMS), and she helped forge new relationships beyond entertainment with brand campaigns for Barbie, adidas and Corona USA.
Tara joined Wild Card Creative Group from BBDO New York where she led the marketing team, focusing on business development and agency branding. During her tenure there as CMO of BBDO NY, she launched the agency’s social channels and her new business team spearheaded the integration of audience data into the pitch process leading to more than $40MM in new business. Tara first joined BBDO in 2007 as an Account Director. Her leadership on campaigns for such brands as PepsiCo, HBO, Electronic Arts, National Geographic Channel and Kraft earned her teams over 200 creative awards.
Prior to BBDO, DeVeaux spent time on both the agency and television sides, starting her career at Y&R and moving on to stints at Turner Networks, Oxygen Media, Diggit Entertainment, a mobile marketing startup and SpikeDDB where she ran the agency’s Johnson & Johnson business. With a career spanning brands, entertainment and tech, Tara’s experience and expertise has uniquely positioned her to continuously innovate in an ever-evolving marketing landscape.
In addition to her professional responsibilities, Tara is also a member of the Leadership Council at Virginia Commonwealth University’s Brandcenter, and the Comic Relief US Leader’s Lab.
Khari Streeter
Chief Creative Officer
Khari Streeter is chief creative officer of Burrell Communications Group, where he leads the agency's dynamic, award-winning creative teams in developing the strategic, impactful work that is the agency’s hallmark.
A respected leader, creative visionary, storyteller and filmmaker with three decades of experience, Streeter most recently served as executive vice president, creative director and head of Production for Hill Holiday, the respected, Boston-based marketing communications agency. While there, he effectively co-led the creative teams and managed the partners on digital, media, on-premise event and internal communications. He also oversaw and directed the business unit alignment for the agency’s Merrill Lynch, Bank of America and U.S. Trust accounts.
Streeter additionally worked across categories on the Reebok, BMW Motorrad, Planet Fitness, American Lung Association, Cadillac, Liberty Mutual, Blue Cross-Blue Shield, Anheuser Busch, adidas and Converse accounts, among many others. Streeter has garnered a host of awards for his work across the industry, including the AAF’s diversity, equity and inclusion Mosaic Award for Allyship to Advocacy, a Communication Arts award, an Effie and a Webbie Award.
He’s also the holder of the Hatch L.E. Sissman Award, a Sundance Film Festival NHK International Screenplay Award and the Grand Jury Prize from HBO’s Urban World Film Festival for his filmmaking, among other accolades.
Tuwisha Rogers
SVP, Business Development
Tuwisha Rogers is senior vice president, Business Development, for Burrell Communications Group. She was named to the post in October of 2022. She is also the founder and principal of Wish Factor, a strategic partnership and purpose-driven marketing consulting firm that leverages groundbreaking strategy and integrated approach, including custom content, partnership development, and planning.
Rogers recently served as the vice president of Brand and Partnerships for the National Museum of African American Music (NMAAM). In that role, Rogers led all marketing and branding initiatives for the museum, which included overseeing the fostering and continued development of the NMAAM community, and corporate and entertainment relationships both domestically, and globally. She partnered with Fortune 500 brands such as Apple, Amazon, Nissan, Hallmark Mahogany, T-Mobile, AARP and RIAA, to name a few. In addition, she successfully opened and launched the museum and curated nearly $3 million in strategic partnerships while garnering over 2.8 billion media impressions within the first year and a half.
Before achieving her success at the museum, she spearheaded and led Strategic Partnerships at Urban One networks. She oversaw a dedicated team for over $70 million in media revenue and partnership management for brands such as Walmart, AT&T, and Prudential. She further was an executive producer on several award-winning campaigns. Her other experiences included working with global leaders such as Martin Luther King, III at Realizing the Dream, and thought leaders such as Dr. Randal Pinkett, TV’s season 4 “Apprentice” winner, leading his business affairs and partnerships. In addition, she collaborated with industry giants and notables including Steve Stoute, ESSENCE communications, BET networks, Eric Roberson, Quincy Jones Productions, NOBEL Women, “Cedric the Entertainer” and many more.
Complementing her career in marketing, Rogers also served as a professor for the Women in Entertainment Empowerment Network (WEEN) Academy, instructing women of color to spark change in the entertainment industry. She participated in prominent programs such as “Leadership Newark” and “MLT.” She is also an active community member serving in the City of Plainfield Budget Committee and Rotary Club of Nashville, Leadership Music, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc, a board member of the Memphis Music Initiative, Second Harvest Food Bank and ACM Diversity Task Force. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in marketing from William Paterson University, a Master of Public Administration degree in urban studies from Kean University, and a New Jersey teaching certification. Her career and community activities have been noted as an honoree and recipient of the 2022 Nashville Business Journal “Women of Influence” in 2016, 2017 and 2018, the Telly Awards and in 2013 The Network Journal “Forty Under 40.” She resides in Nashville, TN.
