SMM Advertising Wins “Telly” And FOLIO Awards

Long Island agency receives honors for public service and social media achievements

SMITHTOWN, N.Y., April 24, 2017 — SMM Advertising was recently awarded the prestigious Telly and FOLIO awards for its online video and social media work respectively.

The Smithtown-based agency won a Silver Telly, the top award, in the Public Service Category for its “Volunteer to be Amazing” video, which was created for the client Suffolk County, NY’s Department of Fire, Rescue and Emergency Services. As part of the “heroic” multimedia campaign to increase recruitment of volunteer firefighters and EMTs, the video contributed to the County’s goal of reducing emergency response times, as well as fire-related property damage and civilian casualties. The agency won a Silver Telly in 2014 for a similar video.

SMM also won two FOLIO awards from The Fair Media Council for its social media achievements. The agency received the “Brand Builder” award, which was given as “Best Use of Social Media to Introduce an Organization’s Brand to a Targeted Online Audience,” for a campaign for Stony Brook University designed to introduce prospective students and corporations to the school’s Center for Corporate Education (CCE). Additionally, SMM won the “Buzz Worthy” award for “A Notable Campaign that Sparked Interest From the Community.” This honor was given for Suffolk County’s Department of Fire Rescue and Emergency Services (FRES) campaign, which was designed to recruit community volunteers to its fire and emergency medical services departments.

“We are thrilled to receive these prestigious awards from our peers, which illustrates how important creativity and imagination is in the marketing process,” said Charlie MacLeod, SMM President. “The SMM team works hard to create ingenious and effective campaigns on behalf of our clients. I thank them very much for their tireless work and I also thank our great clients for entrusting us.”
