Students from Manhattan Early College School for Advertising (MECA) High School visited the 4A’s New York City offices on June 13, 2016 on their way to a media immersion day at MetaVision (GroupM). The students took in the views of the 4A’s 16th floor balcony.
MetaVision hosted 16 high school freshmen from MECA for the day. Metavision provided speakers on media planning, digital planning and media buying who shared how they got in the industry and the tough and rewards parts of their jobs. They also praised the many cool people they have met through their work. The day ended with the students creating and presenting “Moodboards” that reflected the brand, targeting and media/partnership recommendations for various Nestle brands. The kids enjoyed a generous amount of Nestle products including ice cream and candy-to-go. But the main course was made up of advertising insights and experience.
MECA is an innovative Early College and Career (ECC) High School in New York City that offers an integrated sequence of high school classes, Associate degree courses, and workplace learning experiences. Over the six years, students will earn a CTE-endorsed Regents Diploma and a free Associate’s Degree from the Borough of Manhattan Community College (BMCC). In addition, students will have access to a series of industry specific experiences designed to prepare students for entry-level positions in the field of advertising and media.
