Agency Archer Malmo Wins Wilver National American Advertising Award

Memphis, TN – June 3, 2014Archer Malmo has been awarded one of the advertising industry’s most distinguished honors, a silver National American Advertising Award (formerly known as the ADDY Awards) in the non-traditional campaigns category for the Memphis Redbirds “Empty Nest” submission, which featured empty bird nests in popular downtown Memphis areas near the baseball stadium with signs that read, “The Redbirds Return April 3.”  The  promotion was intended to excite fans and remind them that the Memphis Redbirds, a minor league baseball affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals, were gearing up for the next home season.

“We’re honored to receive a National award again this year as it highlights the continued creativity and execution of the Memphis Redbirds campaign,” said Gary Backaus, chief creative officer at Archer Malmo. “We’re proud to once again represent Memphis and the Mid-South at the national level.”

Last year, the agency received a silver ADDY in the non-traditional category for the Memphis Redbirds “Poop Car” submission.

The National American Advertising Awards were part of a three-step process, beginning with local awards ceremonies and 15 district awards ceremonies.  The “Empty Nest” campaign won “Best of Non-Traditional Campaigns” at the local Memphis American Advertising Awards and a Silver award in the “Non-Traditional Advertising” category at the District 7 American Advertising Awards.

Memphis is in District 7, a portion of the Mid-South including Tennessee, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi and Southeast Louisiana.  District 7 had 30 national awards among the 15 districts this year with 21 professional and nine student awards presented.
